Summary:
The mission at Pajaro Valley Shelter Services (PVSS) is to provide families with a path to stable, self-sufficient futures through short- and longer- term housing and supportive services.
The Coordinated Economic Development (CED) program works to fulfill this mission by helping adult and teenaged participants obtain a sustainable financial future through career, educational, and finance management training.
The CED Program Coordinator oversees this program by working with community partners, case managers, and participants to meet the program's established goals.
The CED Coordinator is collaborative, creative, and flexible in solving problems and meeting the individual needs of participating adults, HS Students and teenagers.
The overarching goals of the CED program are that CED enrollees exit with higher rates of professional development/job training, savings, and employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop relationships with and manage cases for 40
CED participants.
Identify barriers to financial sustainability in partnership with CED Participants.
Works with HS Students and teenagers in participant families to further educational and employment goals.
Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations/institutions providing training and education.
Seek funding opportunities for participants to receive free or low-cost job training & education.
Coordinate personal finance, professional development, and other educational workshops.
Assist in case management by developing individualized CED goals and plans with participants.
Update internal database with changes in participants' status related to need for and participation in job training, employment, and savings programs.
Present program progress reports to Leadership Team and Agency Board.
Develop enrichment activities that promote long-term goal setting and personal growth.
Schedule and attend meetings with local community college representatives to create workshops about the academic and vocational training programs available for PVSS participants.
Identify job training opportunities that support sustainable income and allow participants to meet the individual needs of their family.
Assist participants in building resumes, preparing for interviews, and creating schedules that empower them to achieve their educational and career goals.
Assists with various evening workshop coordination, set up and tear down as agreed with supervisor.
Attends meetings as required or assigned.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Follows all agency policies, guidelines, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Minimum 2 years' experience as program coordinator preferred.
Experience in economic/employment development highly desirable.
Bilingual Spanish/English required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, good oral and verbal communication ability, in person and by phone and in written communications.
Effective team member.
High level of organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to prioritize and perform a multitude of clerical tasks and projects.
Business writing ability with strong spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Strong typing and editing skills.
Expertise in use of computers, proficiency in the use of Word PowerPoint and Excel.
Ability to enter data accurately into spreadsheets and databases.
Initiative in the performance of assigned duties.
Education & Experience High school degree or equivalent required with equivalent experience.
AA/BA or some college preferred.
Experience working in a shelter or other housing for formerly homeless desirable.
Valid California driver's license & clean driving record required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
